Royal Paan in Winnipeg

The quality has deteriorated considerably. It used to be a good place for Indian Chaat. Don’t know whether the chef has changed or the management has changed. I ordered Chaat Papdi and it was terrible. Filled with tamarind chutney, I could only taste tamarind and nothing else. Then the server changed it but it was no where near the old taste which I used to eat at this joint. My kids would have made better chaat. I guess it’s time up for these guys. Hope we get a good Chaat joint in Winnipeg soon.P.S. Very uncourteous staff.

Bought idli vada combo today. It wasn’t freshly made. It was probably leftover that was just re fried and packed. Tasteless. Waste of money and time. Staff is not friendly and welcoming either. Not recommended.

it was ok. the food was really good but the service was lacking. it was really confusing menu at first since i never had any of it and didnt know what was good. if i didn't have my friends with me i wouldn't know what to choose. i dont remember any real descriptions in the menu. i would recommend giving it a try though. the food was really good. My friend had to wait for her food after all our food was served even the second dishes. I am not sure why it took so long.

Fantastic food with superb service!There’s a reason this franchise location has been in existence for years, while the newly opened franchise location on McPhillips in Garden City is already in trouble.House secret dish: Chana/Chole Bhatura is made everyday in limited quantities.Also, they serve Saabu Dana dishes!Love the warm food & generous service, especially when the owner is behind the counter and preps the wonderful paan.Authentic Indian food that reminds you of the street and small restaurant food in India.

Honestly, the worst dosa i ever had. Meduvadas were too hard and salty. They didnt provide us complimentary water and even paid for the drink that we didnt order. Extremely disappointed... never coming here again!!!!

I have always wanted to try the Indian resturant, Royal Paan. Today I found myself there by chance at lunch time. It isn't fancy, but it's clean...More like a classy cafeteria style resturant. I couldn't tell the difference between any of the menu items by the descriptions. (The names of items were Punjabi perhaps?) They all were vegetarian and sounded good so I let the server pick an item...Chhole Bathure for $10. It ended up being this succulent, slightly spicy bowl of chickpeas, another dish of onions and fragrant pickled veggies and a 3rd bowl of Indian style yogurt with 2 large freshly made, deep fried pieces of bread which I ripped apart and filled with chickpeas and yogurt. The service was lovely. I highly recommend this resturant if you are adventurous, willing to take a chance on Indian Street foods and like vegetarian. I will be back. The food was really really good, better than Clay Oven but need to step up on sanitary and hygiene. I love this place and been there a few times but i was very concern about the utensils that were left out on the tables and over all food hygiene. I know they will do very well if they improve on food hygiene such as wearing gloves, not to touch food if you handle the cash, always keep utensils cleaned and covered if left out on the tables. The food is awesome especially the Dosa but I give only 3 stars because of the cleanliness.

Just got home after picking up two Royal Faloodas and one Lassi. Perhaps it is the new management or what, but the quantity of the items on the menu has drastically been reduced to the point where it doesn't make sense to be paying the amount anymore. I've attached pictures and you can see the quantity. I didn't have issues with the taste, however the quantity was quite less.

I usually visit their place for Dosas. Their staff is very welcoming and friendly, especially Simrat, who does a great job serving and taking orders.

No hygiene was being practiced at the restaurant. We had ordered food and our drinks, we asked for our drinks to be given to us first and we had to wait over one hour to get our food and got our drinks after we were all done eating. All the dishes that they used were dirty and she waitress was putting her hands inside of the clean water glasses. No one entering the kitchen was even wearing a hairnet. This restaurant definitely has very low hygiene standards. I will not be coming here again

My hobby is try to eat traditional food. Today I went to Royal Paan with my friend, and ate light Indian food. It was spicy for me, but I really like it! Also waitress' service is good. This restaurant is comfortable for me because food is tasty, service is good, and inside is clean. If you have not been there, I recommend you to go there :)

I had a great expirnce. The server who help me was awsome. Its a shoutout to her and she will be the reason to visit again.

I ordered Mysore dosa and it wasn’t up to the mark. Also had vada which was over burned and too salty. They didn’t even provide water which should be complimentary.

Finally a Restaurant with South East India menu to recommend. Authentic and delicious food. Only thing is the seating capacity, can’t go in bigger group (4+) and take away won’t match the taste served hot.

So disappointed with the service and food. Visited this place after sometime just to try again their Masala Dosa. Firstly, Vada was so bad. Burnt taste and really salty. When we got the Masala Dosa it was really sad that Dosa felt like half burn and over crispy. The potato filling was very less in Dosa. I have no idea how come a restaurant served such good food became serving these type over time.

Just picked up some quarantine take out. The staff are super nice, and the food is amazing. Recommend.

We went there first time and it was really bad experience. Server was not friendly even she didn’t greet to us . No side plates, napkins very poor customer service.

Extremely rude girl who served us. No greetings, no smile. She just threw food on the table and left. We had to call the girl 4 times and they don’t come to you and ask if you need anything or not. We ordered 3 items and they served one item right away and other two items after half an our. Totally unprofessional. There are much better places in Winnipeg than Royal paan.

Today (aug 10) evening me n wife and with friends went over and order mysore Masala dosa & vada for dine in.. that was the worst dosa i ever had... both tastes salty and very sour... medhu vada was too much fried and looks black ... Its a real bad experience.

The food used to be very good when the previous owner was running the store. With this new owner, the food is terrible. There was also a hair in my samosa chaat.

A good place for authentic Indian food. My comment as follows ..Before that.. About the place.. location is perfect. Sufficient parking. Inside Ambient is wonderful..Pretty and nicely arranged seating.. A well maintained small restaurant . Ok.. Food.. First time I have tried few items..Pani puri..Taste is very Good. But quantity could be be little more for the price. Pav bhaji.. Taste is great.. Onion given were too less.. One more pav for same price would have been great.. Tried 2 paahns.. Too good.. And one Kulfi.. Taste and size ..Good for the money.. awesome.. Yet to try south Indian food..Overall.. Taste is great.. But little pricy. Recommended..

Love the various Indian street food and paans. One stop place for all different types chola bhatura, pav bhaji, dosas, kulfi, falooda etc. this location have a nice ambiance and great staff members. Very friendly and nice. Best place for vegety. I will visit again and highly recommend.

I have been to Royal paan a lot of times and im super satisfied with the service .... they are always so welcoming .. food is too good and their dosa’s and chole bhature is my first recommendation... I’ll definitely give 10 on 10 must try ... cheap and best

I have been there a lot times and I really love the service of Royal paan. They were very polite and friendly. The food was so awesome and this thing makes me go to Royal paan Again and again.

Today I visited Royal paan with my family and friends. We ordered Mysore masala for everyone and also some medhuvada as snacks. All the vadas were too crispy, burned and very small size. They charged $7 for this 6 burned vadas. Mysore masala were sour tasted not only the masala but also sambar and chadney. Totally the food quality was very bad. And the customer service was very rude. They didn't give any water to drink. When I asked for water they gave some bottled water. Finally we overcharged for what we did not order. Overall experience is dissatisfied. Never recommend to anyone

Came here at 8.50pm and they’re close even on google it said closed at 10.30, if they’re busy and closing soon for the night I’d understand and just won’t bother. Instead the girls gave us 4 a LOOKThey wouldn’t even bother to say sorry we’re closed or come back tomorrow, I had to hear from the person in front of me because they didn’t even have the courtesy to say it, the sign was on and said open that’s why I walked in in the first place Bad customer service and very unprofessional Like your food but not the attitude

I usually go there, and also like there food, but today i called around 10:30pm 12-19 to place an pickup order, the girl who picked up the phone says that their kitchen is closed, which is understandable, but when she was asking her crew member if they can make my order or not, whatever i heard in the background was very very unprofessional. The girl was swearing in punjabi language and the way other crew replied was so unprofessional and rude. Just an advice, you never know if a person can understands what your saying or not, so at least respect customer.

My overall experience at the restaurant was good the staff is very kind and helpful it was my first time they properly explain me everthing about the menu best indian restaurant in south

I had a very disappointing experience with this particular location, twice in a row. Today, I ordered dosas and faloodas for pickup, to my utter surprise the quantity of the items on the menu has drastically decreased, I guess only for pickup/online orders. Also, I had a strand of hair in my food. This has happened second time, so finally reviewed it here. This location definitely lacks in hygiene and food safety standards. I thought of solving this issue with the Management, but they never really cared to call me back. Will never going back or recommending anyone.

Very bad customer service by employee named SIMRAN. Her reaction towards customer are really worst. Employees growing nails and serving food with bare hands .i.e against the law.

Small place, would be better to go there with reservation. Food is a blend of South and North Indian species, can be hot so be careful there! Service is fast depends on what you are ordering and for how many people it is. Overall good experience, could be best if there was bit for space with friendly servers!

Great food..service was awesome. There was just one girl working at the front. She was taking orders, serving guests and also packing the food for the takeout. She was doing all by herself. I guess her name is simrat. She is working realy hard.The management should have more staff in their restaurant. Good job simrat. 👍👍👍

I went there with my friends. It was located near st.vital center. It takes only one or two minutes on foot.The atmosphere was very comfortable because they served delicious meals and waitresses are so so kind and nice!Although it was my first Indian dish, that' was my taste! Good! Good! Appearance was so well-organized! How beautiful!You should try it!You never regret!Please enjoy spicy meals with nice waitresses!!

Placed an order over the phone, was told it would take 20 mins to prepare. Showed up 15 mins later and waited in the parking lot. Got a call shortly after that the main ingredient required for the dish wasn't available and therefore it could not be made. This was relayed to me almost 20 mins after the initial call, when I had already wasted time driving all the way down there. Extremely careless and unprofessional on the staff's part.
